First Impressions

Kavella hair products are carried by salons all over the United States.

Their entire line of products is gluten-free!

The colors of the Healing Tea Shampoo and Healing Tea Conditioner are very natural, which is nice because I avoid dyes and harsh chemicals. I don’t care what color my hair products are so long as they work.

The shampoo and conditioner are also very thick. Not runny at all, amazing!

The Scalp Stimulating Oil Treatment is a liquid that smells fresh and minty, courtesy of peppermint.

It feels tingly when dropped on my scalp but sinks in quickly. While I don’t want to grow my hair out or repair it (it’s already pretty healthy) I did want to address my dry, flaky scalp.

Review

I hate it when products leave a residue in my hair or it takes me forever to get it out. Not the case with Kavella! It washes out beautifully.

I love the thick texture. Watery shampoos and conditioners are messy and frustrating, but the thick consistency of these products make me feel like they aren’t being wasted.

I used only a quarter size amount of shampoo and conditioner.

I wash my hair first in the shower because after many years and skin reactions to hair products I finally realized if you wash your hair last, the shampoo and conditioner stay on your skin and can cause an outbreak if you’re allergic or easily irritated.

Given the conditioner instructions include letting it sit on your hair for a few minutes before rinsing out, I’m pleased to say even with the conditioner in such close proximity to my neck and back (after running it from my scalp to my ends) my skin was clear! It is super gentle and a few times I forgot I still didn’t wash the conditioner out.

My hair isn’t weighed down by the conditioner either. It brings out my natural texture.

And drum roll…I actually feel like my hair is clean.

Sometimes after a day of being outside or in polluted air my hair earns two washes but upon the first wash my hair felt brand new.

Another reason to love Kavella? Ashley (the founder) is so in tune to allergies she made a major selling point of the Healing Tea Shampoo and Healing Conditioner that they are Aloe Free. I am impressed a brand cares enough to accommodate customers with an aloe allergy by making an option just for them!

The Scalp Stimulating Oil Treatment tackled my sometimes dry scalp immediately. I take too-hot showers often which leaves my skin and scalp begging for moisture. After dropping it on my scalp and massaging it in 10 minutes before showering, I didn’t have an urge to itch! The instant tingly sensation lasted only a few minutes. I used a few drops, no more than 5.

The oil contains rosemary, which increases blood circulation to the scalp and stimulates hair growth. The lavender, cedarwood and thyme stimulates hair growth too. Did you know thyme is also anti-fungal for all your dandruff issues?

Overall, my hair is soft and shiny. I can’t stop touching it! I can easily finger brush my hair after my shower and haven’t had any knots since using Kavella.

Would I Buy Again

Full disclosure: these were provided to me by Kavella to review, so I didn’t purchase them. That said, I would buy them because my hair is gorgeous and I love supporting indie brands. Kavella’s founder, Ashley, has been super helpful in sending samples and answering my questions. You don’t get that kind of personalized care from more corporate brands.
